Usage Note

Solfuro is the Italian chemical term for a sulfide compound — a binary compound of sulfur with another element. The most commonly referenced is solfuro di idrogeno (hydrogen sulfide, H₂S), known for its rotten-egg odour. Do not confuse solfuro with solfato (sulfate) or solfito (sulfite), which are oxygenated sulfur compounds with different properties.
