Usage Note

Soliloquio refers specifically to a theatrical or literary soliloquy — a character speaking their thoughts aloud alone on stage, as in Shakespeare. It is more specific than monologo (m), which covers any monologue including speeches to an audience. The stress falls on -lo- (soh-lee-LOH-kwee-oh). Plural: i soliloqui.
