sponsor

sponsor; backer

noun SPON-sor Rare

Origin: English sponsor, from Latin sponsor (guarantor)

The verb sponsorizzare (to sponsor) is the Italianized form. Common in sports, events, and media: lo sponsor ufficiale (the official sponsor).
