Usage Note
Stupendo is an enthusiastic intensifier Italians use freely in everyday speech — closer to 'amazing' or 'fantastic' than a formal compliment. It agrees in gender and number: stupendo, stupenda, stupendi, stupende. Learners often reach for bellissimo when stupendo would sound more natural and spontaneous.
Examples
"Lo spettacolo è stato stupendo."
Natural Translation
The show was stupendous.
