Usage Note
Tacco refers to the heel of a shoe, not of the foot (the body part is il tallone or il calcagno). High heels are tacchi alti and stilettos are tacchi a spillo. The plural is regular: i tacchi. Learners also encounter tacco in tacco dodici (a very high stiletto heel, literally 'heel twelve [centimetres]').
