Tettoia refers to a projecting roof or shelter structure attached to a building — a carport canopy, a market awning, or a lean-to — distinct from a full roof (tetto). It is derived from tetto (roof) with the augmentative suffix -oia. Regular feminine noun; plural le tettoie.
