Usage Note

Transito refers to the act of passing through a place, or to traffic flow. In transito means 'in transit' (passengers or goods). Divieto di transito is 'no through traffic.' The adjective transitorio ('transitory') shares the same root. Do not confuse with tragitto (journey/route).
