Trapianto is used both in medicine (trapianto di cuore, heart transplant; trapianto di midollo, bone marrow transplant) and in agriculture (trapianto delle piantine, transplanting seedlings). The verb is trapiantare; a person who has received a transplant may be called il trapiantato. Plural: trapianti.
