Unilaterale describes an action or decision taken by one party alone without the agreement of others, common in legal and diplomatic language: decisione unilaterale (unilateral decision), dichiarazione unilaterale d'indipendenza (unilateral declaration of independence). The adverb unilateralmente is equally frequent in the same registers.
