usare
to use
verb oo-ZAH-reh Common
Origin: Latin usare, frequentative of uti (to use)
Usage Note
Usare is a regular first-conjugation verb taking avere as its auxiliary. It is the everyday verb for 'to use' (uso il computer = I use the computer). Note that the single s between vowels is voiced ('z'): usa sounds like 'OO-zah', not 'OO-sah'. The cognate uso (noun, 'use/custom') is also common.
Examples
"Uso il dizionario ogni giorno."
Natural Translation
I use the dictionary every day.
