Usage Note
Vespero (also vespro) is the canonical evening hour of prayer in the Catholic liturgy, and by extension the late afternoon/evening hour. Historically famous: I Vespri Siciliani (the Sicilian Vespers, 1282 uprising). Vespero is the more literary/poetic variant; vespro is more common in ecclesiastical and everyday use. The plural vespri is standard.
