Violentemente is the adverb from violento (violent), formed with the standard -mente suffix. It describes force applied with intensity or aggression. In headlines it often signals assault (è stato colpito violentemente = he was struck violently); in literary use it can also mean a sudden, overwhelming onset of feeling.
