Usage Note
Vulcano is masculine (il vulcano, i vulcani). It can be used literally (il Vesuvio è un vulcano attivo) or figuratively to describe an energetic, explosive person (è un vulcano di idee — 'he's a fountain of ideas'). Note that Vulcano (capitalised) is also the name of a Sicilian island.
