Usage Note
Allineato is used both literally (objects in a straight line) and figuratively in political or strategic contexts: paesi allineati (aligned countries, especially Cold War usage). The negative non allineato (non-aligned) was a key term of Cold War diplomacy. It is the past participle of allineare used as an adjective.
