amenità
pleasantness
noun ah-meh-nee-TAH Rare
Origin: Latin amoenitas, from amoenus (pleasant)
Also means
witticism
Usage Note
Amenità has two distinct registers: in a positive sense it means pleasantness or charm of a place (le amenità della campagna, the charms of the countryside); in an ironic sense it means a silly or absurd remark — dire amenità means to talk nonsense or make facetious comments. The -ità ending is invariable, so the plural is also amenità.
Examples
"Il villaggio è noto per le sue amenità naturali."
Natural Translation
The village is known for its natural charms.
