Also means
to wilt
Usage Note
Ammosciare means to become soft, limp, or deflated — used of objects (a flat tyre, a wilted plant) and colloquially of people losing energy or enthusiasm. The reflexive ammosciarsi ('to wilt, to lose steam') is very common in informal speech. It takes essere (reflexive) or avere (transitive) as auxiliary. Cognate with moscio (limp, flat).
Examples
"Il pallone si è ammosciato durante la partita."
Natural Translation
The ball went flat during the match.
Literal Translation
The ball itself is gone-limp during the match.
