Usage Note

Apogeo is the orbital point farthest from Earth — the opposite of perigeo — but it is also widely used figuratively to mean the peak or high point of something, as in il suo apogeo artistico (the peak of his artistic career). Learners should note this figurative use is common in journalism and literature.
