Assicurato is both the past participle of assicurare (to insure, to assure) and a noun meaning 'the insured person' in insurance contexts. La persona assicurata or simply l'assicurato is the policyholder. The word also means 'secured' or 'guaranteed' in a general sense: un futuro assicurato (a guaranteed future).
