Usage Note
Atterraggio is the act of an aircraft touching down; the opposite is decollo (takeoff). The verb is atterrare. Note the double 'r' and double 'g' in spelling — atterraggio follows the -aggio pattern common to action nouns derived from -are verbs (parcheggio, passaggio).
