Usage Note

Augurare is typically used to wish someone well in set phrases: augurare buona fortuna (to wish good luck) or augurare buon Natale (to wish Merry Christmas). The reflexive augurarsi means 'to hope for something for oneself,' as in Mi auguro che tutto vada bene (I hope everything goes well). It takes avere as its auxiliary.
