boxe
boxing
noun BOK-seh Rare
Origin: From French boxe, itself from English 'boxing'.
Usage Note
Boxe is a borrowed word (from French/English) and is invariable — it does not change in the plural. It is always feminine in Italian (la boxe). The sport's practitioners are called pugili (boxers), and the ring is il ring (also borrowed). The alternative Italian term pugilato exists but boxe dominates in everyday speech.
Examples
"Si allena nella boxe da tre anni."
Natural Translation
He has been training in boxing for three years.
Literal Translation
He-himself trains in-the boxing since three years.
