Usage Note
Buonismo is a polemical Italian coinage (from buono, good) used to mock what the speaker sees as naive, self-righteous do-goodery — particularly in immigration or social-policy debates. It is always pejorative and politically charged; calling someone buonista is an insult implying they prioritise sentiment over realism. There is no neutral English equivalent.
Examples
"Basta con il buonismo politico!"
Natural Translation
Enough with political do-goodism!
