cabaret

noun kah-bah-REH Rare

Cabaret is invariable in Italian (no plural change): i cabaret. It refers both to the genre of satirical performance and to the venue. In southern Italian (especially Sicilian) usage, cabaret can also informally mean a tray — particularly un cabaret di paste (a tray of pastries) — a regional meaning quite distinct from the performance art.
