Usage Note
Civ is an Italian administrative abbreviation for civico (civic number, i.e. street number) or occasionally civile (civil). It appears in addresses — Via Roma, civ. 12 — and official documents. Like other abbreviations, it is written but not spoken; in speech one says numero civico or simply the number. Learners will see it on forms and signage.
Examples
"Scrivere via e civ. nel modulo."
Natural Translation
