Usage Note
Consacrare is used in religious contexts (consacrare una chiesa = to consecrate a church) and figuratively (consacrarsi allo studio = to dedicate oneself to study). The reflexive consacrarsi takes essere as auxiliary. The non-reflexive form takes avere.
