Usage Note

Cubetto is the everyday word for an ice cube (cubetto di ghiaccio) or a small die-cut piece — cubetti di pane (croutons). It is masculine; the plural cubetti is very common in recipes. The non-diminutive cubo is reserved for the geometric solid or Rubik's cube (cubo di Rubik).
