Disattivare is the standard technical and everyday verb for switching something off or disabling it — disattivare un allarme (to deactivate an alarm), disattivare un account (to disable an account). It takes avere as its auxiliary in compound tenses: ho disattivato il sistema ('I deactivated the system'). Its opposite is attivare (to activate).
