discrezione
discretion
noun dee-skreh-TSYOH-neh Rare
Origin: From Latin discretio, from discernere ('to separate, distinguish').
Also means
tact
Usage Note
Discrezione covers both the sense of tactful restraint (parlare con discrezione, 'to speak with discretion') and the sense of personal judgment or latitude (a discrezione del giudice, 'at the judge's discretion'). The adjective is discreto ('discreet; fairly good'), which is a false friend for 'discreet' only — 'discrete' (separate) is distinto or separato.
Examples
"Ha agito con grande discrezione."
Natural Translation
She acted with great discretion.
