Usage Note
Durire is an infrequent intransitive verb meaning to become hard or to harden over time. It is largely supplanted in everyday use by indurirsi (reflexive) or indurire (transitive/intransitive). When used, it takes essere as auxiliary in compound tenses. Learners will encounter it mainly in older literary texts.
