Also means
instructive
Usage Note
Edificante means morally uplifting or instructive. It is often used ironically in Italian: uno spettacolo poco edificante ('not a pretty sight', lit. 'not very edifying') signals disapproval. It does not change form between masculine and feminine singular (un esempio edificante / una storia edificante).
Examples
"La storia di quel volontario è davvero edificante."
Natural Translation
That volunteer's story is truly edifying.
