Usage Note
Equinozio refers to either of the two moments in the year when day and night are of equal length — l'equinozio di primavera (the spring equinox, around 20 March) and l'equinozio d'autunno (the autumn equinox, around 22 September). The plural is equinozi. Do not confuse with solstizio (solstice), when the day is longest or shortest.
