equipaggio

crew

noun eh-kwee-PAHD-joh Rare

Usage Note

Equipaggio refers to the crew of a ship, aircraft, or spacecraft — not a sports team (use squadra for that). The plural gli equipaggi follows the regular -gio/-gi pattern (dropping the -i of -gio before the plural ending). It is always masculine.

Examples

"L'equipaggio dell'aereo era molto professionale."

Natural Translation

The aircraft's crew was very professional.
