Usage Note

Essenzialmente modifies the entire clause and typically sits before the predicate or key adjective: è essenzialmente un problema tecnico (it is essentially a technical problem). Like most Italian adverbs ending in -mente, it is invariable. It is more formal than in pratica (in practice) or fondamentalmente.
