Usage Note

Fanatismo describes excessive, uncritical zeal for a cause, religion, or team. The corresponding adjective is fanatico (also used as a noun: un fanatico = 'a fanatic'). In Italian sport culture fanatismo is more negative than tifo (fandom), implying dangerous or irrational behavior. The plural is fanatismi.
