Fischio can be the sound of a whistle (il fischio dell'arbitro — the referee's whistle), a hiss of disapproval from an audience, or a whistling sound in the ears (fischio alle orecchie — ringing in the ears). The plural is i fischi. The verb form is fischiare. Do not confuse fischio with fisico (physics / physical).
