fixation
Usage Note
Fissazione in everyday Italian most commonly means an obsessive idea or fixation — avere la fissazione di (to be obsessed with). The scientific sense (chemical fixation, photographic fixing) is reserved for technical contexts. The plural is fissazioni. It is more colloquial than ossessione and often used affectionately or humorously: è la sua fissazione! (it's his/her thing!).
