forestale
forest
adjective foh-reh-STAH-leh Rare
Origin: Medieval Latin forestalis, from foresta (forest outside the enclosed park).
Also means
forestry
Usage Note
Forestale is used as an attributive adjective (zona forestale, forest zone; guardia forestale, forest ranger) and rarely stands alone. Do not confuse it with forestiero/straniero (foreign, a stranger) — they share no etymological link in modern Italian. The Corpo Forestale was Italy's forest police until 2016.
Examples
"La guardia forestale ha fermato i cacciatori."
Natural Translation
The forest ranger stopped the hunters.
