fortemente

strongly

adverb for-TEH-men-teh Less Common

Also means

deeply

Usage Note

Fortemente is the adverb formed from forte (strong). It is used to intensify verbs and adjectives: fortemente convinto (strongly convinced), fortemente sconsigliato (strongly advised against). In spoken Italian molto or davvero often replace it, so fortemente skews written and formal. It is not an intensifier for nouns — use molto there.

Examples

"Sono fortemente contrario a questa decisione."

Natural Translation

I am strongly opposed to this decision.
