forzista

noun fort-SEE-stah Rare

Origin: From Forza Italia, the centre-right party founded by Silvio Berlusconi in 1994.

Usage Note

Forzista refers to a supporter, activist, or politician of the Italian centre-right party Forza Italia. The ending does not change for gender in the singular: both un forzista (m) and una forzista (f). Plurals are i forzisti (m) and le forziste (f). It is a politically specific term with little use outside Italian current affairs.
