genuino
genuine; authentic
adjective jeh-NWEE-noh Rare
Origin: Latin genuinus, 'native, natural'
Also means
natural, sincere
Usage Note
Genuino is a false friend for English speakers: it does NOT mean 'genius' — that is geniale. It means 'genuine, authentic, natural' and is used for food (prodotti genuini, 'natural/authentic products'), people (una persona genuina, 'a sincere person'), and feelings. In food marketing it signals the absence of additives, similar to English 'wholesome.' The plural is genuini (m) / genuine (f).
Examples
"Questa mozzarella è genuina."
Natural Translation
This mozzarella is authentic.
