Hashish is an invariable masculine noun in Italian — its plural is also hashish. It is borrowed directly from Arabic and retains its foreign spelling. In Italian law and everyday speech it refers to the resin form of cannabis. It is often shortened colloquially to hash. The 'h' is silent as in all Italian words.
