manco

not even

adverb MAHN-koh Less Common

Usage Note

Manco is a colloquial synonym of neanche or nemmeno (not even). It is common in spoken Italian and informal writing: manco per sogno means 'not a chance' (literally 'not even in a dream'). In some regions and older usage, manco also means 'left' (as in left hand, synonym of sinistro), but this is now rare and mostly dialectal.

Examples

"Non ho manco un euro in tasca."

Natural Translation

I don't even have a euro in my pocket.
