Usage Note
Marciatore primarily refers to an athlete who competes in race walking (marcia), an Olympic discipline. It can also mean a soldier who marches or, more broadly, a good walker. The feminine form is marciatrice. Do not confuse with marciapiede (sidewalk/pavement).
