Monumentale describes something on the scale of a monument — vast, impressive, or historically significant: un edificio monumentale (a monumental building). Colloquially it can be used hyperbolically for an impressive achievement or a spectacular blunder (un errore monumentale). Invariable for gender; the plural is monumentali.
