Usage Note

Nondimeno is a formal connective adverb meaning 'nevertheless' or 'yet', used to introduce a contrasting statement. It is synonymous with tuttavia and ciononostante, but carries a more literary or legal register. In spoken Italian, però or tuttavia are preferred. Nondimeno is essentially one word but historically derives from non di meno (not the less).
