Pagato is the past participle of pagare ('to pay') used adjectivally — un lavoro ben pagato ('a well-paid job'), ferie pagate ('paid holidays'). It agrees in gender and number: pagata, pagati, pagate. In compound tenses, pagare takes avere: ho pagato ('I paid').
