reclamo

complaint, claim

noun reh-KLAH-moh Rare

Usage Note

Reclamo is the formal term for a complaint submitted to a company or authority — presentare un reclamo ('to lodge a complaint'). In everyday speech Italians more often say lamentela or simply protesta. Do not confuse with réclame (feminine, from French), an older Italian word for 'advertisement'.

Examples

"Ho presentato un reclamo al servizio clienti."

Natural Translation

I lodged a complaint with customer service.
