Rimedio is used both for a medical cure (un rimedio contro il raffreddore = 'a cold remedy') and figuratively for any solution to a problem. The phrase non c'è rimedio = 'there's no remedy / nothing to be done' is very common in everyday speech. The plural is rimedi. Do not confuse with ritrovato (a new therapeutic discovery).
