Also means
ring (general sporting arena)
Usage Note
Ring is an invariable English loanword in Italian — it does not pluralize: due ring (two rings). It is always masculine: il ring. It is used primarily for the raised boxing or wrestling platform; Italian has no native single-word equivalent in common use. In figurative speech salire sul ring means 'to enter the fray' or 'to take on a challenge'.
Examples
"Il pugile è salito sul ring con grande sicurezza."
Natural Translation
The boxer stepped into the ring with great confidence.
