Rinnovabile is most commonly encountered in the phrase energie rinnovabili (renewable energies — solar, wind, etc.), which is central to Italian environmental and policy discourse. It also applies to contracts and permits: un contratto rinnovabile (a renewable contract). Like all adjectives in -e, it is invariable for gender.
